Schools Given Extra Encouragement To Attend The Times Gap Year Show

School parties are being offered the chance to attend The Times Gap Year Show 2006 at greatly discounted rates.

The Times Gap Year Show, the only show of its kind in the UK, is expanding in 2006 with two shows to be held in Manchester on 10th and 11th November and a week later in London on 17th and 18th of November and the organisers are keen to encourage schools to attend the show.

Sean Mills, Managing Director of The Gap Year Show is hoping that schools and 6th form colleges will take advantage of the discounts to give pupils the opportunity to visit the show:

The gap year market is growing year on year, and the options available to students are almost endless. The Times Gap Year Show gives students the opportunity to meet the gap year providers and talk to them face to face about what they can expect on their gap years. The exhibition provides a depth of information that students just cannot get from just browsing the web.'

With over 100 exhibitors such as STA Travel, findaGap.com, Overseas Working Holidays and Greenforce at the show, students will be able to get advice on all aspects of gap year travel, from teaching to conservation to surfing to diving as well as jobs to fund their adventures. They'll also be able to quiz independent advisors on the ins and outs of taking a gap year and attend a whole variety of short seminars for free.

The shows are taking places over Fridays and Saturdays to give students the option to attend independently, or with their schools.

Sean Mills believes that gap years offer students valuable experience before going on to university or work:

'
Despite the introduction of tuition fees, many students are still keen to take a gap year. After thirteen years of school and exams, students deservedly feel they need a break before embarking on the next stage of their lives and they also appreciate that what they choose to do on their gap year can often make them more appealing to future employers. 6th Form tutors and careers teachers need to make students aware of all the options they have when they leave school and The Times Gap Year Show will help many of them develop a clearer idea of the opportunities open to them.'

Teachers and students can book on line at www.gapyearshow.com.

The Times Gap Year Shows will be held at the GMEX Centre in Manchester on 10th and 11th of November 2006 and at the ExCel centre in London on 17th and 18th November 2006.
